GLR today received notice from USRowing that the Girls 4+ boat will be invited to compete in the 2015 Youth Nationals, held in Sarasota, FL, June 12-14. The girls boat, consisting of coxswain Allie Nussbuam, and rowers Elli Mapstone, Grace Bentley, Maddy Coady and Sydney Gillman, and coached by Harry Finch, finished 4th overall in last week’s Northeast Regional Championships, less than 4 seconds out of automatically qualifying for the National regatta. However, USRowing rules state that if a boat is less than 4 seconds from the last qualifying time, the team can petition for an invitation. Coach Finch filed the petition immediately following last weekend’s races, and the petition was accepted this morning!
The girls will continue their training over the next few weeks in preparation for racing against the top Junior teams in the country.
