This weekend Greater Lawrence Rowing participated in the USRowing Northeast Youth Championships, the regional qualifier for Youth Nationals. The program had its best showing in program history, sending 5 boats to semifinals and 4 of those to the finals in their respective events. First up, the Girls Varsity 4+ was less than 4 seconds from medaling and automatically qualifying for Nationals, finishing 4th in a very competitive race. The Boys Varsity 4+ then finished 5th in their event, less than 4 seconds back from qualifying in 3rd place. This was the first final a Boys 1st Varsity boat has qualified for in the programs history! The Boys 2nd Varsity 4+ then won their event, finishing 1st and getting the program’s first gold medal in program history at the race. The Boys Novice 4+ then finished the day by coming in 6th place in their final.
